Session 1: Keynote |
[Gavin Halse - ApplyIT] |
Technology continues to have a major impact on our lives. In the world of manufacturing systems many innovations are changing the way we run plants. What was a dream only a few years ago has now become a reality – universal access to information across the planet, mobile devices, intelligent systems that can “think”, cloud based services, social media and networking, advanced analytics etc. These are all converging to make new things possible. At the same time we are faced with increasing challenges in manufacturing, the global financial meltdown, the rise of the emerging economies, the appetite for commodities in China, an ageing workforce and the loss of experience and skills to retirement. The “now generation” are entering the manufacturing environment with new expectations and a new way of thinking that will radically change how we create a high performance culture and how we need to manage operations and safety – and this will require new systems. The vendor landscape is changing and the way software is developed, sold and consumed is all about to change forever. Find out why and what you can do to ride the wave successfully. |

Session 2:Case Study – IntelliPERMITTM at an Australian gold producer |
Defective isolations can and do lead to accidents with injury and even fatalities. It is therefore vital that isolation management be an integral part of operations and safety policy in an operating plant. This session will focus on real experiences to highlight best practices and how IntelliPERMIT’s capabilities support the most demanding requirements in Australia's gold mining industry. Concepts such as Level 1 and Level 2 isolations, lock boxes, and automated tag printing works will be covered. |

Safety and quality management systems are an integral part of modern operations. Operational processes need to be flexible, agile and easily changed - and yet rigorous enough to meet the requirements of formal management systems such as ISO18000 and others. This case study will show how together with NCP Alcohols we were able to solve a multitide of business requirements using standard SmartSURETM functionality. This session will highlight the business case for safety systems, the business benefits and learning points relevant to any implementation. |

Session 9: Party is over - sustaining momentum, maintaining value and disciplines |
Typical projects end with celebrations and the traditional braai, but at the time few realise that the hard work still lies ahead! Maintaining disciplines and system value is an on-going challenge once the project team has disbanded and the consultants are off site. Changes in the business require on-going system configuration changes. New versions of OpSUITETMare released and need to be properly implemented without disruption. People come and go, and system champions and power users change. Over the years ApplyIT has learned what works and what doesn’t. We will discuss these experiences and highlight the value of post implementation service agreements such as the “Jump Start” service plan offered to OpSUITETM customers. Tips and tricks on how to get the most value from your support contract and the ApplyIT help desk are also covered. |
